The National Program

Computers for Schools is a Canada-wide program that provides refurbished computers to schools, libraries and not-for-profit learning organizations at little or no cost to recipients.

Alberta CFS distributes approximately 12, 000 computers each year.  As of late 2004, we can install Microsoft Professional software in computers going to accredited Alberta schools.

This propgram was co-founded in 1993 by Industry Canada and the Telephone Pioneers, the world’s largest industry-related volunteer organization. This unique program effort is supported by provincial government departments and agencies, the education community, and the private sector.

Federal and provincial departments and agencies, and many private sector companies, donate computers and related equipment to the Computers for Schools Program. Schools apply for and receive complete computer systems, each consisting of a CPU, monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and loaded with either Windows 98 or Windows 2000 operating systems

* All public and funded/accredited Alberta schools (K-12),  Alberta public libraries, and not-for-profit learning organizations are eligible.
* Explore our web site and discover how we may be able to help you with computers for your classrooms or libraries:
      http://www.cfsalberta.ca.
* Complete and submit your application on our website.
* If you require a hard-copy application form, phone us in Edmonton at 780-427-5262.
* Applications are processed throughout the year on a first-come, first-served basis.
