Alberta's CAP Youth Initiative Program
                              

Announcement - September 25, 2008!!

The Community Access Program (CAP) Youth Initiative (YI) is an Industry Canada initiative which aims to provide work experience for young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 30 in CAP Sites across Canada.  For the province of Alberta, the hourly rate is $12.00 plus 11% Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERC) based on the $12.00 hourly rate.  Each youth can be funded for a maximum of 420 hours.

Two of the chief goals of this program are to increase the public's use of information and communications technology (ICT) and to help young people gain valuable ICT skills.

1. If you are an Alberta CAP site, everything you need to apply to fund a CAP-YI 2008-09 intern is conveniently provided below. This includes:

              Success Stories (end of internship)

             CAP Site Operator Report (end of internship)
     Tax Forms (if required)

              Tax Form TD1 Aboriginal
              Tax Form TD1 Alberta

In addition, you can make your funding request retroactive back to April 1, 2008.  Best of all, decisions regarding funding are on track to be made by August 31, 2008 so it's wise to act as soon as possible!

You may email, fax or mail your application to the above address. The number of positions available is limited so apply as soon as possible. To facilitate your application we suggest you email or fax the required completed documents to the LCN. They are:
                     1. Application for CAP-YI Funding
                     2. Participant Information Form (for each intern)
                     3. A Job Description (for each intern)
Then please send us an original of the completed Participant Information form by mail since we must have the intern's original signature on file.
