Our Project Milestones to Date - October 2001 to January 2003
Over the last year we have built a lasting resource for Lethbridge that includes:

Upgrading many partners to high speed Internet services and establishing a common standard for all sites

Installing high speed computers with DVD players; CD-R/W and networking capabilities

Installing networkable colour printers, copiers, scanners

Designing and establishing public access kiosks, both hardwired and wireless

Providing software including MS Office 2002 and CD burning,
-
Contracting for extended web hosting services

Creating a community website for networking and community promotion

Providing technical support and trouble shooting CAP computers, supporting partner's internal networks

Installing virus protection, system security, and adult filtering
-
Delivering Internet, e-mail, and word processing training and support for public users, clients and staff

Recruiting highly skilled volunteers to provide project and site support
-
Establishing an administrative model for the organization including: governance, bylaws, financial controls

Coordinating communication with and between partners
-
Completing all reporting required to maintain the support of Industry Canada
The Lethbridge Community Network that coordinates all 31 sites for the Lethbridge Urban CAP project has been innovative and creative in developing public access opportunities. These include:
Outdoors - Kiosk in the Japanese Garden located in Henderson Lake Park
Mall Kiosks - Lethbridge Centre Mall both wired and wireless
Store Front - Computer workstations and training centre
Sports Centres - Lethbridge Soccer Centre and the Nicolas Sheran Leisure Centre
Retail Book Stores - Adams Book Corner and Second Edition Books
Information Literacy Centre - Training facility - downtown Lethbridge
Sites in all quadrants of the City - North, East, South and West |
