The Lethbridge Community Network is completing its 8th year of service to the communities of Southern Alberta. We are most proud of our ability to rise from dependency on a single funder to putting together a complex funding base that will sustain our services to the foreseeable future. Our success is very much due top the generosity and support provided by Lethbridge Centre. With their help we have been able to support schools, youth seniors and individuals with disabilities in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta
Our services include
- Free public access to 115 computers with assorted software
- Continue to deliver new sites in four significant communities in south (central and western) Alberta, (Lethbridge, Taber and Pincher Creek)
- Operate as distributor for Alberta computers for Schools (recycling 1000 per year to schools and not-for-profit organizations (NFP). This year we are completing the delivery of 650 computers to Lethbridge School District #51 for use in school programs.
- Being a "Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher" (a designation from Microsoft Canada for recycling computers back into community use)
- Teaching basic computer skills in 7 municipalities (focused on seniors, public, workforce development, and people with disabilities)
- Technical Support Services for NFP sector (contract maintenance and AdHoc support)
Our new quest is to build a model Community Digital Media Centre. This will support:
- Personal and community story recording with storage in web accessible format
- Personal digital media projects (audio, photographic, video, amateur music)
- Media reproduction service.
- Mobile recording studio to bring project possibilities to the many smaller communities and to the two regional native reserves
- Training and skill development in usage of equipment and information technology application tools
This project will include student volunteers, community mentors, qualified staff and a variety of high quality tools for public usage.

Overview of the LCN'™s Operating Programs
Lethbridge Community Network (LCN) is a nonprofit, charitable organization with over 33 member organizations that provide Lethbridge and Southern Alberta communities with barrier-free access to information technology resources. The LCN provides training in basic computer skills, with special courses for youth, senior citizens, the general public and individuals with disabilities. It also provides technical support and Internet website development services for members and nonprofit organizations. We are also a distributor for Computers for Schools, a nation-wide program providing refurbished computers to schools, nonprofit organizations, and individuals on social assistance. The LCN has been designated a "Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher" recycling over 1200 computers per year into the community.
Our main operating facility is a centrally located store front in downtown Lethbridge, next to the Greyhound station. This location provides free public access with twelve computers serving over 300 users a day. It is also a hub for computer skill training, technical support services and administration of LCN all programs and services. We currently serve four southern Alberta communities Taber, Vauxhall, Pincher Creek and Lethbridge. (please visit our website at www.lcncap.com)
