CANADIAN RED CROSS Each year, Red Cross responds to nearly 20,000 disasters in Canada − from house fires to tornadoes and floods. Disaster service volunteers are recruited and trained to first assist with local disasters that occur within their home base area. As training and experience grows, volunteers can accept challenging and rewarding disaster volunteer assignments within their home province, within Canada or with our sister society the American Red Cross, when they make an official request for assistance. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, speak English, and have a current driver's license. We are having Level One training to become part of our Disaster Management team on April 17 and 18. For more information about this program please contact Jan at 403-327-7117 or email jlawson@redcross.ca.
